Position: Student Satellite Services Recycler (EMU, Lawrence, Walking BC 's, Electric Truck and Bicycle Routes served out of EMU satellite office)

Starting Wage: $8.25 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds
Good physical condition
Scheduling availability as indicated below
Good communication, public relations, and customer service skills
Ability to work well with little or no direct supervision
Ability to work well, productively, and safely without a partner
Previous demonstrated reliability and work performance as a Student Recycler
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Satellite Services candidates are chosen from the Student Recycler crew and only after a period of demonstrated excellent work performance. These positions provide primary recycling services to "special needs" areas of campus, including the EMU and Lawrence Hall. They also service bottle and can recycling sites in office and academic building. Satellite Services Recyclers are routinely scheduled to work alone. The Bike and Electric Truck (Tiger) Route is also staffed from this crew. Duties include:
Moving loaded barrels, bags, and other containers with or without handtrucks
Transferring recycled material between containers
Transporting materials via hand trucks out of doors in inclement weather
Providing all recycling services in the EMU and Lawrence Hall without direct instruction of supervision; and working closely with the staff in these facilities
Grading, sorting, cleaning and loading paper, glass, plastic, tin, cardboard, and other recyclables in accordance with established market and program guidelines
Maintaining recycling sites in accordance with program guidelines
Maintaining records of work completed and problems encountered
Interacting with the campus community in a professional and helpful manner
Serving as a communications conduit between program staff and campus staff
Demonstrating knowledge of and adherence to safety guidelines and policies, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment and safe lifting techniques
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Student Satellite Services Recyclers work both indoors and outdoors with no direct supervision from a satellite office location in the EMU. While collecting bottles and cans, Recyclers routinely transport materials on hand trucks in weather which can be inclement, cold, rainy, hot, etc.. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, push, pull, bend, stoop, climb stairs and use handtrucks.
AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Student Satellite Services Recyclers must be available to be scheduled in minimum 2-hour blocks of time between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Recyclers are also expected to commit to a regular weekly schedule for the duration of each 10-week academic term, and are required to work all Finals Weeks.
