The
RARE participant will work on addressing five projects.
The first project is implementation of the Weed and Seed
Plan. The RARE participant will work with the Citys
grant coordinator to develop sustainable funding sources
for the plan, and bridge the plan to implementation stages.
For the second project, the participant will work on the
Dry Creek Low-Impact Hydro Project. The main tasks for
this project will be researching the regulations related
to hydropower and the criteria for low-impact certification.
The participant will also work with the City to identify
a consultant for the project. The RARE participant will
work with Cascade Locks Cable Television (CATV) Improvement
Strategy in keeping city council and local CATV committee
informed of CATV developments, cable rates, and contracts.
The participant will also work on implementation of the
Cascade Locks Downtown Strategy and Implementation Plan.
The participant will work with City staff to make changes
in language of the community development code, and adoptions
of new ordinances. Lastly, the RARE participant will serve
as a liaison between Cascade Locks Tourism Committee and
the City to keep the City informed of planned events. |

RARE participant will have strong written and verbal communication
skills; and organizational, outreach, interpersonal, and
research skills. |

|
Sheriffa Wright has a B.A. in Art and Design from Iowa
State University, with an emphasis in history, preservation,
and photography. While a student, Sheriffa had a cooperative
internship with the City of Sioux City, the Sioux City
Museum, SiouxlandMark Corp., and Downtown Partners; and
worked as a research assistant for the Institute for Design
Research and Outreach at Iowa State University. After
graduation she returned to work for Downtown Partners
in Sioux City, Iowa. |
