Grading Policy
Your course grade is a weighted average of the following five
performance scores: homework (10%), computer lab (10%), quizzes (15%),
midterm exam (30%) and final exam (35%).
Your course grade
Exams
There will be one midterm
during the term.
It is scheduled for
Wednesday, Feb 9 .
The final is scheduled for
Tuesday, March 14 .
All the exams will be in Deady 210. For each exam,
you may bring one "formula sheet," i.e., one 8.5 by 11
sheet of paper with whatever formulas and notes you would find
useful.
Quizzes
There will be five quizzes, but there will be no make-up quizzes.
Your lowest quiz grade will be dropped.
Homework
Homework is due DAILY at the lectures. No homework will be accepted
late. You may drop FOUR homeworks. If a situation develops in which you
need more than four homeworks dropped, such as a prolonged illness, you
should notify me as soon as possible verbally and in writing. You may
turn in homework early, of course, if you know in advance that you
will have to miss class.
Please do homework on 8.5 by 11 paper, folded once the long way. Put
your name (last name first, please) on the front.
Please pick up your homework in the paper return box
outside Room 210 Deady.
Computer Labs
There will be 5 or 6 computer lab assignments.
Your lowest lab score will be dropped.
We may move our regular classroom to Fenton 105.
Labs will be due on the following Wednesday. You are responsible for
reading the Minitab Handbook that came with your text in order to figure
out how to use the computer to complete your labs. However, you may use
any statistical software package and any word processing program you like
to finish the labs. The Fenton 105 is open to public use from 4:00-9:00
pm MTuWTh and from 1:00-9:00 pm on Sundays.
Attendance:
You are responsible for all the announcements, changes,
course information, and topics that I cover in class. If you miss a
substantial number of lectures (more than 5) without discussing the
matter with me and without a valid excuse, I may refuse to accept
homework from you, late or on time, unless you have attended class.
If you cannot make my office hours, please feel free to stop by my
office anytime.
