Homework Lecture Notes Calculator Instruction Computer Lab

Grading Policy

Your course grade is a weighted average of the following performance scores: homework (15%), computer lab (15%), midterm exam (35%), and final exam (35%).

Exams

There will be one midterm during the term. It is scheduled for Friday, May 10 . The final is scheduled for Thursady, June 13 . All the exams will be in 210 Deady. For each exam, you may bring one "formula sheet," i.e., one 8.5 by 11 sheet of paper with whatever formulas and notes you would find useful.

Homework

Homework is due WEEKLY in class on Mondays. No homework will be accepted late. You may drop ONE homework. If a situation develops in which you need more than one homework dropped, such as a prolonged illness, you should notify me as soon as possible verbally and in writing. You may turn in homework early, of course, if you know in advance that you will have to miss class. Please do homework on 8.5 by 11 paper, folded once the long way. Put your name on the front, but don't write your student ID number on any homework paper.

Please pick up your homework in the paper return box outside Room 210 Deady.

Computer Labs

There will be 8 computer labs. You may drop ONE lab. We will meet in Fenton 105 instead of our regular classroom on the Wednesday indicated on the schedule. Labs will be due on the following Wednesday . We will use Minitab on the Macs in that room. You may use any statistical software package and any word processing program you like to finish the labs. I will not be able to help with the commands except in Minitab.

Calculator

At the very minimum, you should have a calculator capable of handling two variable statistics. The TI-82 will draw histograms and regression lines for you and will be more than sufficient. The TI-83 is like having a small statistical computer program at your desk and will perform all the statistical tests that we learn in this course. It is your responsibility to learn how to use any calculator you choose for this course.
