University Standing Committee on
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Concerns
The University Standing Committee on Lesbian Gay, Bisexual, and TransgenderConcerns was created by the University President in 1991 to monitor the campusclimate toward lesbian, gay and bisexual students, faculty and staff andto present issues of concern to non-heterosexuals to the University Administration.
To this end, the committee engages in the following activities:
- Assisting and encouraging academic presentations of topics related to sexualorientation and/or gender identity.
- Organizing an annual symposium on sexual orientation and gender issues (InterSEXtions).
- Meeting with directors and department heads to discuss the campus environmentfor lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender staff and students.
- Hosting social gatherings for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender faculty and staff.
- Communicating with the University President about concerns of the gay,lesbian, bisexual, and transgender campus community.
