In his role as Reference Librarian, Paul provides reference service for patrons of the Knight Library. He coordinates the library's participation in a state-wide virtual reference service. He also teaches workshops and credit courses on library research topics.

As a subject specialist, Paul supports the research and teaching of the School of Journalism and Communication, and the departments of Religious Studies, Judaic Studies, and Philosophy. He purchases materials for the UO Libraries in those areas. He also provides individual consultation to faculty and graduate students, as well as instruction to classes in those disciplines.
