Rigdon River Trail is an excellent family style off-road mountain bike ride. The ride is a groomed cross country fitness trail that lies in the riparian zone of Salmon Creek. About 1 mile east of Oakridge, take a right on Fish Hatchery Road. Park between the railroad crossing and Salmon Creek.
This mulched trail passes over some beautiful hand-made bridges and under a railroad trestle. At 1.5 miles the trail divides, stay right and you will come to the Rigdon Ranger Station. Go through the parking lot, around the building, and at the end of the ranger station go right to the trailhead. Once again on the mulched trail, follow the cross-country signs. It gets a little confusing because of the many short "fitness" loops. At about 3 miles take a sharp left at the trail sign. If you get confused there are several points where you can pop out onto Salmon Creek Road. Once on the road, go left and head back, past the ranger station, to the starting point.
