Larison Rock is a scenic promontory providing an expansive view of the southern portion of the Willamette National Forest. This ride is one of best afternoon rides in the Oakridge area!

This loop combines a steep climb on a rough paved logging road with a steep descent on single-track trail. To get to the beginning of the loop, take Highway 58 to Oakridge. Drive 1.3 miles east of Oakridge and turn south at the Hills Creek Reservoir sign. In less than a mile, take a right on Road 21 and cross the Middle Fork of the Willamette. Immediately after the bridge, park your car at the intersection of Road 21 and Road 5852. From here ride uphill on Road 21. The road climbs approximately 500 vertical feet per mile. At 0.5 miles, take a right onto Road 2102. At 4.8 miles, the trailhead to Larison Rock is on the right. Shortly past the trailhead, the trail divides. The trail to the left climbs to the top of Larison Rock. The 0.4 mile trail to the summit is steep, but well worth the effort. From the summit it is about 3.5 miles down the north side of Larison Rock to the North Fork of the Willamette. At the bottom of the trail, take Road 5852 east 1.7 miles back to your car.
