Yes, it's a 3400 foot climb, but strap your helmet on and prepare for a exciting technical descent. This narrow trail will test the switchback skills of the most advanced and daring riders.

Drive to Brice Creek Road 22. Park at the Cedar Creek Campground trailhead.

Ride west 0.25 miles to Adams Mountain Road #2241 and begin the long, slow climb. The road is generally smooth and hard, and the unsightly clearcuts along the way allow for rewarding views of your advance into the sky. On a small ridge top just below the summit of Adams Mountain, a spur road (#761) takes off to the right toward the summit, and turns into Knott Trail, a single-track on the way to the top. If you're just too tired to go the extra 500 feet to the peak, continue straight on Adams Mountain Road. Pick up Crawfish Trail in less than a mile.

Back on the summit, the Knott trail follows the ridge for 0.5 mile to the Crawfish Trail junction. Turn left and check out Crawfish Shelter about 0.1 miles down the trail. For a different, but extremely challenging descent, continue straight to Adams Mountain Trail about a mile up from the junction. This trail parallels Crawfish, but follows a ridge line down and spills out onto Road 22 a couple miles farther east from the car. You can also pass the Adams Mountain Trail and continue to ride along the Knott Trail following the ridge toward Fairview Peak.

Crawfish is steep, technical, and fun. It crosses roads at three points and ends at Brice Creek Road a mile east of the campground.
