As the name implies, this ride is mostly flat. However riding to the flats is no picnic and, once there, it doesn't stay flat for long. The Christy Flats area consists of about 5 miles of single-lane paved road and countless miles of dirt roads. The paved road meanders through groves of old growth and second growth trees. This route is a relaxing ride very well suited for kids and those not wanting to work up a sweat.
To get to Christy Flats, take the Aufderheide north from Westfir. Eleven miles north of Westfir, take Road 1926. From here the road starts to climb. Christy Flats begins at the intersection of Road 1926 and Road 1927. The only problem with this ride is the limited parking available. When parking make sure you are out of the way of passing traffic. Ride east on Road 1927. At 4.5 miles, Road 576 goes left. This gravel road takes you back to the intersection of Road 1926 and Road 1927. Ride this loop counter-clockwise, as there is more downhill than uphill in this direction. Once back at your car, convince someone to drive while the rest ride the 20 miles downhill back to Westfir. Along the way, stop at a great swimming hole 7.5 miles west of the intersection of the Aufderheide and Road 1926.
