Burner’s Bike Repair Kit!

ANOTHER BIKE "FIX"

Oh, yes, we're back yet again, shaking our best bike booties to make sure you're up-to-speed on wheeling and dealing in the desert. This time we're raving about REPAIR KITS.

Since anything can happen on the playa, we thought we'd recommend a few must-haves to keep you bike-healthy-wealthy-and-wise:

• A patch kit. We doubt you'll want to fall flat in the desert. Patch kits are inexpensive and easy to come by. Check your favorite bike store or Target-like entity.
• A pump. Make sure someone in your camp has one for the group to share.
• An extra chain, just in case. Playa dust can be ruthless when it comes to moving parts. If you MUST use chain oil, a light coating of WD-40 should do it. Spray carefully, using a carpet under the bike, so you don't spoil the playa with petroleum products.
• An extra tube, ideally two, and an extra tire would be great. If you end up not needing it, you'll probably meet someone who does--and s/he will love ya for it!
