Math 251 (Phillips) Week 6 homework

• Web Homework 5 (on WebAssign) is due Thursday evening (14 February).
• There is also an optional practice assignment on WebAssign, associated with Web Homework 5. Its "due date" is Wednesday evening (13 February).
• Written homework 6, as a pdf file, or as a LaTeX file. Due Friday 15 February in class.
• Solutions to written homework 6, as a pdf file, or as a LaTeX file.

Instructions for the WebAssign assignments:

• Some problems say to turn in graphs to the instructor on paper. Just ignore those parts.
• Some related rates problems can be done by writing down an explicit formula for the appropriate quantity as a function of time. Don't do them this way, since you won't be able to do the ones which appear on exams this way.
• In Section 3.10, use the linear approximation even if the problem says to use differentials.
• Some problems on the practice WebAssign for Section 3.10 can be done by simply entering the computation into a calculator. Again, don't do them this way, since you won't be able to do the ones which appear on exams this way.
