THE 1998 CAPN MEETING IN PORTLAND, OREGON (APRIL 3-4, 1998)

A conference registration form may be found on p. 19 of this Bulletin. Please note that the due date is March 1.

LODGING OPTIONS

Following is a list of hotels conveniently located for the April 3-4 CAPN conference in Portland, Oregon, held on the campus of Portland State University. Each hotel is a five to fifteen minute walk from campus. Make reservations by March 1 if possible.

1. Double Tree Hotel (310 SW Lincoln; 503 221-0450 or 1-800-222-TREE)

$99 single or double rooms at group rate: mention CAPN.

2. Days Inn (1414 SW 6th; 503 221-1611 or 1-800-329-7466)

$ 97 double at group rate: mention Karen Carr and the confirmation number 11527; have them change the name and credit card information. Nearest to PSU.

3. Mallory Hotel (729 SW 15th; 503 223-6311 or 1-800-228-8657)

Small doubles at $60 (you may have to ask for them) or really nice ones for $75.00. No group rate.

4. Ben Stark Hotel (1022 SW Stark; 503 274-1223)

single/double (one bed) $43.60; double/quad (2 beds) 49.05$. They also have hostel rooms at $12/person. No group rate. Farthest from PSU but closest to Powell's.

DIRECTIONS

FROM THE AIRPORT: A shuttle operated by RAZ transportation goes to the Days Inn or the Ben Stark for $9. For the Mallory, you can take the RAZ shuttle to the Imperial and the Mallory will pay for your cab from there. You can buy RAZ tickets from the driver; it leaves every 20 minutes. There is free shuttle service to the Doubletree hotel from the airport every half hour, until 11:30 at night. A cheaper alternative is the #12 city bus, which will drop you within walking distance of any of these hotels.

BY CAR: Traveling south on I- 5, take I-405 South across the Fremont Bridge. Continue south on I-405 to the 6th Ave Exit (#1C). At the top of the ramp, turn left onto 6th Avenue. Travelling north on I- 5, take the City Center/Beaverton Exit (#299B) to I- 405 North. Take the 6th Avenue exit. Once on 6th Ave., take a left on Montgomery and you will see Smith Memorial Center in front of you. If you arrive after 7 pm Friday or anytime Saturday, parking is free in the parking garage you will see on your left as you go down 6th Ave (at Harrison). For maps and directions, the WWW site is:
