Ethiopian Collection - Bowerman Hall Collection

The museum's Ethiopian Bowerman Hall Collection offers a selection of diverse objects representing Ethiopia's material culture and history. From handicrafts to illustrated manuscripts to brass sculpted hand crosses, the varied objects highlight the cultural complexity of Ethiopian society. Most of the museum's Ethiopian Collection, consisting of nearly 100 objects, was acquired through a generous gift by Jayne Bowerman Hall as a tribute to her husband William O. Hall, who served as U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia from 1967 to 1971. Below is a brief sampling of the Collection's holdings photo-documented by Jack Liu.
