re: Neuroscience Open House. This is a copy of a memo that MGL sent out on 3/1/99.

Dear All,

In your mailbox you will soon find several copies of a flyer announcing the Neuroscience Open House that is scheduled for Saturday, April 3, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.  First of all, I want to encourage you and your lab colleagues to participate in the open house. I suspect at least 300 people will show up to ask us questions and hear our story.

Second, would you take the copies of the flyer and post them around town, in places that you frequent, where they will be seen by your friends and neighbors.  If you want more copies, just pick them up from me.

Third, be thinking about what your lab would like to do for the Open House. The plan is to have lab tours, as in previous years.  A lab tour would last about 20 minutes, and you could plan on running about 3 of them in the 2 hour period of the open house.  Between tours you would have time to chat with the guests informally.   The tours will be staggered in time so that the guests will be dispersed throughout the building rather than bunched up in one lab.  There will probably be a lot of school aged children.  In about a week I'll be asking each lab opt in or opt out of participation in the open house. So be ready with your answer.

If you have any ideas for how best to organize or plan for the open house, please contact me.

For our use in disseminating information about the open house, I have made a web page with the address: http://darkwing.uoregon.edu/~mglickey/baw99/planning/index.html.  You can consult this web page at anytime for planning information.
