re:  How to arrange your classroom visit

As you probably know we had a meeting to plan for classroom visits on Feb 10.  Some of you could not make it, so here are some important things that were said at the meeting.

A LIST OF CLASSROOM TEACHERS who have requested visits is contained on
the brain awareness 99 web site.  A few details about each class, like grade level and
class meeting time, are also listed.

PICK A CLASS YOU WOULD LIKE TO VISIT from the list of available classes on the web site.
Then notify me at marvgl@uoneuro.uoregon.edu or 346-4580.  Tell me which
class you want and I will put your name on it. I'll also introduce you
to the teacher.

THEN IT'S UP TO YOU to contact the teacher and arrange the details of
the visit.

RESOURCES FOR MAKING A GOOD PRESENTATION may be found on the web site.
You can find out where to get brains and brain models to demonstrate to
the children. You can get ideas and props for neuroscience
demonstrations. You can get ideas about what to say.

WOULD YOU PLEASE ANNOUNCE THE NEUROSCIENCE OPEN HOUSE on your
classroom visits. The open house will be held on April 3. There are
flyers for you to hand out to the children in your classrooms.  Please pick up the
flyers in room 233 Huestis or ask me to send them to you in Campus Mail.

RECRUIT ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEERS for classroom visits. We don't have enough
people, yet, to meet demand. Ask your friends to join you in this
activity. Team up with them in visiting several classrooms at the same
school.
