Diversion Program:
ALCOHOL-RELATED DIVERSION
You may be interested in a diversion program offered by Eugene
Municipal Court if you were cited for the following charges:
* Minor in Possession of Liquor
* Allowing Unlawful Alcohol Consumption on Private
Premises
* Furnishing Liquor to a Minor
In order to participate in the program you must plead guilty, giving up
your right to a trial. You are not eligible to participate if you
previously participated in an alcohol diversion program through this
court.
This program includes:
* Entering a guilty plea to the charge
* Payment of court costs of $60.00 within 60 days
* Attend an 8-hour educational program
* Pay $50.00 non-refundable fee to the program
provider
* Commit no new alcohol-related offenses during the
diversion
* Allow provider to report compliance (or
non-compliance) to the court
The diversion is for four months. If you comply with all of the
conditions of the diversion agreement your case will be dismissed.
If you are interested in this program but are unable to attend a class
in the Eugene area, please refer to the reverse side of this page for
information on attending a class out of the area. If this is what
you would like to do, let the judge know when your name is called.
OUT-OF-AREA CLASSES
If you are interested in the diversion program offered by Eugene
Municipal Court but are unable to attend a class in the Eugene area,
you must do the following:
Locate a class comparable to the one offered by Eugene Municipal
Court. The Eugene class is eight hours that covers the following:
Alcohol & other drugs
Personal safety & survival decisions
Sex, STDs, STIs, and more
Parties, police & citations
Dating “rules” & laws
Parents, peers & roommates
Personal rights & responsibilities
When searching for a comparable class in your area you can contact the
following for assistance:
* mental health facilities
* colleges
* local courts
* hospitals
Eugene Municipal Court staff are not able to assist you in
locating a class. On-line courses are not acceptable.
It is your responsibility to notify the court of your completion of the
class. Failure to comply with the requirements of the entire
diversion program including notifying the court of your class
completion, and failing to appear at your sentencing date will result
in imposition of a fine, fees, and a suspension of your driver's
license and/or your right to drive in Oregon. Unpaid fines and
fees will be turned over to an outside collection agency.
