Advanced Word Analysis and Semantic Change

We continue our study of English words by

  • first, learning rules which explain predictable sound changes in morphemes;
  • second, discussing the kinds of meaning changes which can occur historically.

Unit 3 Study Plan

  • Prepare flash cards or other study aids for Morpheme Set 3. Review morphemes daily while studying the following materials in the order listed. REMEMBER: our Morpheme Set 3 is not the same as the one in the text book.
  • Begin keeping a word journal for Written Assignment 3. Add to your journal regularly while studying the other materials.
