1908:1911; Post cards
held in
Laura/Lois Archive [>LL.RXV]
(Archive of Kimball,Laura and Bestgen,Lois)

LL.RXV is the code name for a large collection of documentation on the life of the Kimball family in Piedmont OK. The materials were originally preserved by Laura Kimball, then by Lois Bestgen. The LL.RXV holds several score postcards from and to Laura Kimball in 1908-1911.

Among these cards are many between Fred Kimball, then a 19-year-old seeking his fortune in Montana and Laura Russell, then a 20-year-old working at Mulvey's general store in Piedmont OK.

Savings from her employment allowed Laura to buy that piano we gathered around so often in the southwest downstairs room in the Kimball farm house. The cards are arranged alphabetically so that one might feel some suspense about the following question = Will Fred stay in MT or will he return to OK and his sweetheart Laura? Well, you know the answer, and if you didn't I gave it away in the sentence about the piano. I should say that I give away the answer by my very existence. Laura’s 1910ja17:card to Fred, if it could be interpreted, would explain a lot

I borrowed these cards from Lois when we visited Cameron MO, 2008je18.

Hello Fred: I rec your card was glad to hear from you for I thought you were froze to-death from the way L.E.R. [KmbLE] was having fits down here. E.W.M. [McnEW] said he wrote you a letter the 14th of Feb and has never got no ans. So I guess you never did get it. It is just so nice and warm down here. And I’ll bet you are having winter in general up there. Bye Bye E.M.P.

Jack & Morris [RtcMo] & Roy [KmbWR] are going to Pocasset. Grace & I are at [KmbMi] Minnies. The boys are hurrying us. Jessie [Add at top=] I never saw such a bad cloud as was last night.
