Planning the page layouts (visual appearance)
- let the goals and the information content drive the appearance
- use those common design elements you decided on
- reminder: some viewers will start "in the middle". Put every
page in context
- be explicit about the goals/content of the page
- sign (email address) and date all pages
- include a back link to the main homepage of the site
- don't write for just one browser
- keep it simple
- emphasize textual content over form; beware "art for art's
sake"
- use graphics (images) only when they contribute to the
message
- don't get carried away with fancy formatting
- pay attention to download time constraints
