Using browsers to inspect your HTML files

Check your pages with multiple different browsers, e.g.:

• Netscape 3.0, or 4.0 for PC
• Netscape 3.0, or 4.0 for Macintosh
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0
• lynx

You'll get very different results, especially as you start to use "advanced" html features.

Check your pages:

• with different sizes of windows
• with different browser preferences, particularly for fonts and colors
• as printed (not everyone will view your pages on line)

Be especially aware of:

• color differences, especially Mac vs PC
• page layout differences, especially with tables and frames
• differences between browsers in support for "advanced" HTML features
• differences among browser configurations (e.g. installed plugins)
