diglib: MIG/AAA project metadata meeting Nov. 14

There will be a meeting of interested members
of the Metadata Implementation Group, the
AAA digital collections project team, and other
interested parties on Monday, November 14
from 10-11:30.  I'm still checking on the meeting
location and will send that out when it's confirmed.

Agenda:

Discuss metadata issues for AAA digital collections and
possible implications for cross-collection searching.
At issue are the content standards (what goes into a
particular field) and not the labels. Labels are easy
to change; content of the fields is not. We
will have discussions field-by-field, starting with:

	1) personal names
	2) subject(s)
	3) source
	4) others to be identified later

We will be lucky to get through the first discussion; we
will almost certainly not get through the second. This
will be the first of several meetings where we will attempt
to reach consensus and start documenting our decisions.

I will bring along some examples of different approaches
to try to focus the discussion.
