Re: diglib: digital content workflows
Jon,
My immediate concerns as they relate to CDA responsibilities:
to accurately inventory and record what we have if this hasn't been
done--at the very least on a collection-level basis (I assume we might
have gotten some data outside typical purchasing procedures)
to document any usage restrictions, terms and conditions, etc.
to record any retention decisions or needs for updating

As I am getting more map
procedures off the ground, I am starting to
approach the point of being able to start the GIS program up again.
I
have been following the conversations that Digital Content
Coordinators
have been having about electronic materials that come without a
delivery
or display mechanism.
GIS data fits many of the criteria for going through the DCC workflow
that
has been under discussion. At some point in the coming months, I
will be
looking for a forum in which to start developing procedures to get our
GIS
collection out of the cd-rom filing cabinet where it currently
resides. I
suspect that DCC may be the best place for this.
If someone has suggestions for how to proceed, or has some
institutional
memory of how things proceded in the past, feel free to drop me a
line.
Otherwise, this message is just a heads up for what is ahead.
