diglib: For Dec. 20, 2004 DCC meeting

In preparation for Monday's meeting of the Digital
Content Coordinators, I'd like us to review a few
things on the work-in-progress web site at:
http://libweb.uoregon.edu/diglib/digcon_work.html

For Agenda Item 1:

As part of the follow-up discussions
on work already  underway, please review the
original and revised drafts of the DL Mission
Statement and the Digital Preservation Policy
Statement. Come prepared with your comments
or with written revisions to share with the group.
I would like to finalize these documents and
move on.

For Agenda Item 2:

Newly added is the material related to the digital
content survey. The first document is a checklist
that I drafted yesterday of some of the types of
information I think we want to collect about the
digital content that the library is creating or
acquiring. The second document is a draft
data collection manual that the people at the
University of Kansas were kind enough to
share with us. Please review both of these
documents and be prepared to discuss
how we want to proceed to collect the data
we need for our survey.

For Agenda Item 3:

To help prepare for this discussion, look at
slides 37-42 of the KU presentation I notified
you about on December 8. It's at:

I'll fill you in on some discussions taking place within
GWLA that are relevant to this, as well.

This meeting is open to any interested library staff
or faculty member. If you are interested or know of
others who might be interested, I encourage you to
attend and participate in the discussion.
