2. AAU average salaries without comparable UO ranks are printed, but are not included in salary averages.
3. The AAU Salary Study includes both public (23) and private (4) institutions. See attached list.
4. Only 9 month employees are included. 12 month employees in administrative positions have been excluded.
5. Only rank of professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor are included.
6. Averages in this comparison may differ from averages in other salary comparison study reports due to selection criteria.
7. Definitions of faculty included in AAU salary data:
    a. Regular, full-time faculty in instructional departments.
    b. Regular, full-time faculty on sabbatical or partial leave without pay in 1998-99.
    c. Visitors are included only if their salaries are representative of salaries for that department. (The UO data contains no visitors.)
    d. Faculty on 600 hour appointment are not included.
8. Endowed chairs paid by the UO Foundation are included.
