Board Presentation 16 May 1997
President Aschkenasy, Members of the Board, Chancellor Cox
The Interinstitutional Faculty Senate has held no meetings since the last OSBHE meeting. Our activities have been primarily to encourage faculty to contact their own legislators with the message to support the higher education budget. This was done during the debate on the base budget and continues now as the add-on budget is being considered. With legislation concerning higher education being our primary concern at the moment, other issues are in the background.
Tomorrow the IFS will join the AOF and AAUP in a joint meeting at OSU. We hope to have several legislators join us there and intend to continue our process of enlightenment at that time.
The next meeting of the IFS is June 6th and 7th at OIT where our major point of business will be to work on the report of our committee on peer review of mid and high ranked faculty. We hope to have a statement to bring to you at your June meeting.
Once again I want to congratulate all who have participated in the so far successful legislative process. We hope our participation has contributed to the beneficial results.
The Interinstitutional Faculty Senators extend their best wishes to President Ramaly. We have great respect for the work she has done at Portland State University.
