Subject: Fwd: Transfer Module Meeting at OIT

Peter,

I wanted to follow up on what I said about California's transferring policies, where I was an academic counselor for 20 years. There are a number of ways that units/credits are transferred from Community/Junior Colleges to 4-year universities in California. I have attached one of the most used. I have also underlined the part that refers to the "modular" or "area" certification. As you can see, a student can either be fully certified or area (modular) certified, as being proposed in Oregon. At first this cause some confusion, but the benefits quickly overcame this. Over the last 8-10 years it has been working very successfully. A must, of course, with this kind of certification or Transfer Module is even more careful and thorough academic advising. Thanks for helping to facilitate the meeting at OIT on Tuesday.
