2004
California State University General Education Requirements and Associate Degree
Option B
CSU regulations
state that to earn a Bachelor’s Degree, each student must complete at
least 48 units of General Education. Of these 48 units, 9 units must be upper
division completed after reaching Junior standing and after transferring to the
four-year institution. Some CSUs require additional GE units; check the catalog
of the State University of your choice after you have decided upon a major. For
advice and assistance, see a counselor. Students having 56–60
transferable semester units with a “C” average (2.0) will be
eligible to transfer to a California State University providing a minimum of 30
units in GE, including all of Areas A and B4, is completed with grades of
“C” or better. 60 units are required for admission to San Diego
State. Other CSU campuses may give admissions priority to transfer students who
have completed 60 units. By Fall 2005, all CSU campuses will require 60 units.
SRJC courses numbered 1–99 will transfer to the CSU for units. Santa Rosa
Junior College will certify completion of 39 units of the 48 unit General
Education requirement for graduation from the CSU. To be fully certified,
students must complete 9 units in each area of A, B, C, and D and 3 units in
Area E. No more than 30 lower division units will be certified from
Areas B, C, and D combined. Students admitted to a CSU campus with full certification
may not be held to additional lower division GE requirements. Students
admitted to a CSU campus with subject-area certification may not be held
to additional lower division GE course work in the subject areas certified. San Diego State
requires full certification for admission. Completion of the CSU General
Education Pattern (eligible for full certification of 39 units) is one option
(Option B) in meeting the General Education requirements toward earning an
Associate in Arts or an Associate in Science Degree at Santa Rosa Junior
College. If not satisfied with the General Education evaluation by the
California State University after transfer and after consulting the CSU
evaluator, be sure to contact the SRJC Transfer Center at 527-4874 or the Articulation
Office at 527-4275. NOTE: In addition to courses in General Education, major
courses may be needed prior to transfer. Check with a counselor.
