Heather C. ArnoldArt Major at the University of Oregon
I graduated from Astoria High School in 2005 and headed off to college in Eugene, Oregon. I became a duck without a path and took general classes to fill up my schedule. After making an "Over the Hill" birthday cake for my father's 40th birthday, I decided to leave Eugene in search of a Patisserie and Baking Degree. I ended up in Portland, Oregon attending Western Culinary School and received my degree in December of 2006. I spent summers making wedding cakes and custom chocolates and decided I needed even more to satisfy my creative side. I came back to the University of Oregon and was accepted into the Art school Fall of 2008. Since I've been back, I've taken many different types of art classes including Digital Art, 3D design, drawing, art history, silkscreening, and more. I've become comfortable with many programs including InDesign, Illustrator, Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Final Cut Pro. I've also become familiar with html, java, action-script, and processing. I enjoy experimenting with my computer, making screen prints, playing with fabrics and drawing with charcoal. My interest lie with the materials I use. I'm fascinated with how ink is absorbed into the different types of papers or how far I can bend a piece of balsa wood. I want to continue looking at materials and how they interact with each other and the meanings behind the use of colors. |
