Business Concept
EugeneSoccer.com
is a web portal for the Eugene/Springfield Oregon soccer community, which
will include easily navigable information
about local soccer clubs, school teams, local merchants and on line shopping
services. Though EugeneSoccer.com will cater to the Eugene soccer community,
EugeneSoccer.com will in no way be solely limited to serving the Eugene area. Anyone with a web browser and an internet
connection will be able to take advantage of the interactive features of EugeneSoccer.com.
EugeneSoccer.com will primarily serve the Eugene/Springfield area with information
about local soccer, as well as those wishing to make purchases of soccer related
goods through both local merchants and national resellers of soccer related
merchandise.
The EugeneSoccer.com
web site will initially be hosted by a free hosting service called Hypermart.
After we have seen what kind of revenue is generated by the affiliate
service we will provide, the revenue will be spent on obtaining the domain
name EugeneSoccer.com. At that time, the EugeneSoccer.com web site will be
put on Garron's personal server at no additional cost, and the domain name
"EugeneSoccer.com" will be purchased.
Financial requirements
are minimal to none. EugeneSoccer.com
currently has unlimited access to all technology necessary in order to develop
the EugeneSoccer.com web site. No finances are necessary to host the
site due to the many free site hosting services available on-line. After a
time, the EugeneSoccer.com domain name will be purchased. The current rate for domain name registration
is approximately $10.00 from www.gandi.net.
Currently EugeneSoccer.com
is a joint partnership between Tyrel Peters and Garron Hale EugeneSoccer.com
was formed Jan 2002 out of common interest and the need to fulfill a lengthy
class assignment.
According
to our market research, portal web sites with excellent information that is
readily available are a viable means of gaining site visitors. According to OVUM, Ovum, the analyst and consulting company, "The portals that survive will be those that form both short
and long-term alliances with other content and service providers, so they
can offer new revenue-generating services such as ecommerce, subscription
fees, placement fees, and premium content" which is precisely what EugeneSoccer.com
has been created to provide to the Eugene soccer community.
Currently the only web site with community soccer information about
clubs, standings and scores is a broken link from the City of Eugene's web
site:
http://www.ci.eugene.or.us/REC/athletics/index.htm
The only retail store in the Eugene/Springfield area is the indoor
soccer facility Kick City. Kick
City's web site consists of links to rules and regulations about playing indoors
and has a link to two city club teams from which they can order their team
uniforms.
There are currently no local soccer retailers in the Eugene/Springfield
area on line ready to do business on-line.
According
to many sources, soccer is the fastest growing sport in America and it is
undoubtedly the most popular sport in the world.
Sales
EugeneSoccer.com will target soccer players from the Eugene/Springfield
area, both male and female, ages 12-30. EugeneSoccer.com will generate prospective
customers by search engine registration and possibly using Web Position Gold
as well as putting flyers up in local retail stores.
We will also attempt to have our link put on the City of Eugene's recreation
web page. We will also contact local high schools
and local clubs to solicit photos of teams, schedules, scores to be posted
on our web site. EugeneSoccer.com will also start an opt-in email list that
will be sent to those that wish mailings regarding local sales specials or
club/school news and tournaments.
Sales will be through local merchants as well as click through affiliate
sales through a national retailer called soccer.com that will give 5% of it's
sales to their affiliates that direct sales to them. EugeneSoccer.com will provide links to
these retailers and become an affiliate to soccer.com.

at the University of Oregon. Garron

owned by Garron from1992-1995 in Seattle WA. In 1996 Garron sold his share of the business and started Peace
ScreenPrinting also located in Seattle. In 1998 Garron sold Peace ScreenPrinting.
Also in 1998 Garron started FlyingSeats Graphic and Furniture Design
Co. to further his artistic and computing skills.
All business operated by Garron have been successful and have made
a profit. Garron will serve EugeneSoccer.com by
bringing his experience in web design, server administration, business management,
on-line interaction, and graphic creation to EugeneSoccer.com.
Both Tyral and Garron will divide the rest of the operating requirements
for EugeneSoccer.com between them.
Risks
In order to eliminate many of the risks associated with ecommerce
site, EugeneSoccer.com has structured itself to be elastic enough for immediate
change if need be. EugeneSoccer.com
will need no trained labor other than the two principle owners, there is no
inventory, if the retailers we represent cut their prices, we stand to benefit,
if soccer itself becomes unpopular, all we have lost is our time. Furthermore,
if Hypermart goes out of business, and our web site is unavailable, Garron
will put EugeneSoccer.com on his personal server and redirect visitor to the
new server. Our ad campaign is driven by the popularity of the sport itself,
our email list is opt-in thus eliminating any negative publicity. If our click-through
affiliate projections are not met, there is nothing lost since nothing was
invested to start with. EugeneSoccer.com will take time to gain popularity
and recognition; however, due to its structure, EugeneSoccer.com is flexible enough to
weather the time it takes to gain in recognition as the premier web site for
soccer information in the Eugene/Springfield area.
Funding
EugeneSoccer.com currently does not seek either investors or funding.

There are many other soccer sites on the net for example www.bigtoe.com
or www.soccer.com, but both of them only have equipment. The difference and advantage we have will be the local updates
for all Eugene soccer games. There
were no sites on the net that we could find that was a local soccer site.
That should help us get many more people from around here to visit
our site.
With using Hypermart we plan to be a click through site, being affiliated
with soccer.com. We will advertise
all the same soccer gear that soccer.com consist of. If you choose to buy something and click through our site to
get to soccer.com they will give us 5% commission on everything they buy. Then along with all the accessories will
be all the local soccer scores, and future upcoming events.
The information that we have on all the local events is our unique
selling proposition. The reason
this is so unique is because there are no other local sites in Eugene to compete
with. That should also help us bring in local
customers. The more people that
we can get to visit our site the better, the goal is to get it as popular
as possible and people will go through us to purchase items from soccer.com
and that is our only source of income.
The pricing is not going to be up to us that is totally up to soccer.com,
but they had some of the most reasonable prices, so that is why we chose to
be affiliated with them.
The Market
We are trying to target all the local soccer players in Eugene, from
the city league to the elementary kids.
The reason we could make this a successful site is because we have
no local competition to take away from our viewers.
The market for soccer equipment is not a big as other sports like football
or basketball, but it is growing
rapidly as soccer gets more and more popular. We plan to get our site known out on the net as fast as we
can, then in the future with the growth of our customers, the business should
be as successful as we planed.
We have a large amount of competition all throughout the web that would
make it tough for us to just jump into the market. So our focus is on attracting all the people we can in Eugene.
The local competition is much less, because the only other site around
here is in Corvallis. Most people in Eugene would much rather
visit a site from in town.
It is tough to say what kind of attraction our site will bring, then
after they come to our site they would have to buy some thing for us to make
any commission. The reason we
can't determine how we will do is because there is no other site to relate
to.
The only cost for us is going to be the labor we need to put into the
website and us keeping up with and posting the soccer that is going on locally.
We will not need any other labor assistance, with the two of us we
will be able to get the website started up and going, and keep up with and
post all the local activities going on.
