March 30 – April 1, 2006

SEAMUS, the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States, is pleased to announce the 2006 SEAMUS National Conference will be held at the University of Oregon, School of Music, March 30 – April 1. SEAMUS 2006 seeks to explore the theme Electro-Acoustic Music: Arena for Action and Performance.

We are especially pleased that as part of our celebration of the 20th anniversary of the founding of SEAMUS, the 2006 National Conference will present the world premieres of new electro-acoustic works by Mario Davidovsky, Synchronisms No. 11 and 12.

SEAMUS 2006 invites submissions that explore the conference theme of action, physicality and performance as well as other types of electro-acoustic music with and without performers, works with video, soundscape compositions, and other types of related works. Paper submissions and panel presentation proposals that deal with the above broad topics are encouraged, along with other topics related to computer music and intermedia composition, human-computer interaction, software development, aesthetics and history.

Concerts will take place in Beall Concert Hall and in the Micro Recital Hall, located in the School of Music on the University of Oregon campus. Both halls will feature multi-channel diffusion speaker systems and stereo and multi-channel playback formats. Paper presentations will have a stereo playback system.
