FIRST -  Faculty Institutes for Reforming Science Teaching Through Field Stations

A NEW OPPORTUNITY: THE FIRST II PROJECT

October 2001: WE ARE SEEKING TWO NEW FACULTY TEAMS

December 2001: The Kellogg Biological Station FIRST team is seeking five teams of faculty from Universities and Colleges in their region to participate in the FIRST II project.  For information go to the Michigan State University FIRST web page

The FIRST Project

The FIRST project, funded by the National Science Foundation's Undergraduate Faculty Enhancement Program, is a professional development program for faculty and post-doctoral/graduate students from universities, four-year and community colleges. The project involves five teams that are centered at field stations throughout the United States. These teams are developing regional communities of faculty (institutional teams) centered at field stations who will take a leadership role in the reform of undergraduate biology education.  During 1999 and 2000, a series of workshops will be held at the field stations to further the goals of the FIRST project.
