Abstract

Book protection is one the serious problems ahead of the libraries the world over. This essay expounds the progress of the book protection in Guangxi, a region of China. It discussed the following problems:

• Investingation of the book insect pests in Guangxi;
• Making the comprehensive plan of the prevention and control of the book insect pests in Guangxi;
• Practise of freezing the book insect pests to death in the ancient books in Guangxi Library;
• The first result of the investigation of the book insect pest and protection research ; and
• The life history of the book insect pests and comprehensive protecting skill research in Guangxi.

  To counter these problems of the present book protection, the author put forward four suggession

  1. Establish the provencial, regional ancient book center, concentrate management, preservation and use;
  2. Strengthen the research of book protection and tackle key problems in co-operation;
  3. Work out the plan of the book protection of the whole country; and
  4. Build the book insect pests prevention research base in Sino-U .S. co-operation ; and so.
