Abstract

The communication of libraries between China and America has been a long history of the last hundred years. This communication improved the development of library services of modern times in China. From 1973, when Mr Liu Jiping, director of Beijing library, commanded the delegation to visit America to now, especially since China put into effect the reform and the opening policy, the contact of libraries between China and America has become more often and more effective, which has marked some success. In this period of the contact, there are 10 major issue left a deep and in America both have its own advantage and distinguishing feature. There will be the wide fields and good prospects in strengthening communication and cooperation between two countries. According to the principle of "towards future, equality and mutual benefit, respect each other, exchange from each other, strengthen cooperation, resources sharing", the exchange and cooperation between two countries will be increased both from government and non government in various respects such as documents, library technology, theory, staffs, publications, international organizations and symposiums, which must be benefit the development of the library services and going together to the 21th centuries more prosperous.
