The EEPCore provides specialized research and educational capabilities for studying human physiology
and is used by researchers investigating the human response to environmental stresses such as extremes of heat, cold, and altitude.
The EEPCore consists of a custom-built environmental chamber, equipment for human studies, and supporting areas.
The chamber is a 12'x12' room capable of controlling temperature between -10 to 50 degrees Celsius, humidity between 10% and 95%,
and simulating altitudes up to 18,000'. Integral equipment include a metabolic cart, treadmill, cycle ergometer, and data collection systems.
Supporting areas include a subject prep area and biospecimen handling area.
The EEPCore was made possible by a grant
from the DOD University Research Instrumentation Program and a gift from David and Nancy Petrone. It is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Eugene Evonuk.
