Who Are We?

Who are we?

Alyssa Buhl, Stephanie Erickson, Gregg Shetterly, Mark Neff and Wade Tullar

Alyssa Buhl: I am currently a senior at the University of Oregon pursuing a double major in Geography and Environmental Science. As an outdoor enthusiast, I am deeply concerned with the increasing presence of garbage and litter in forested areas. By educating the public about illegal dumping issues we can decrease the problem through fostering concern and care for the health of our forested ecosystems. abuhl1@gladstone.uoregon.edu

Stephanie Erickson: I am a junior at the University of Oregon, double-majoring in Environmental Studies and International Studies, with a minor in Business Administration. I am a finance senator on the ASUO Student Senate and a member of the EMU Board of Directors. I am interested in international environmental issues and am looking forward to volunteering on a biological reserve this summer in Ecuador. I worked on the 2003-4 illegal dumping project and am excited to help out with this year's project. I will be in charge of creating and facilitating outreach presentations to better involve community members in mitigating illegal dumping. sericks1@gladstone.uoregon.edu

Gregg Shetterly: Currently I'm a senior at the University of Oregon studying Environmental Studies and Geography. I am interested in GIS as a tool to help research environmental issues...such as illegal dumping! I have been analyzing the data we gathered in the Mohawk Valley last term and using GIS to make a series of maps. This project will help me prepare for the post-graduation job hunt by giving me valuable experience with GIS data gathering, map making, and analysis. gshetter@gladstone.uoregon.edu

Mark Neff: I am a second year masters student in the Environmental Studies Program.  My thesis research focuses on the politics and management of the National Elk Refuge in Jackson, WY.  I study how policy makers use science and deal with uncertainty in addressing the long term needs of the local socioecological system.

I am the project manager for the illegal dumping research team.  My role is to coordinate student efforts and serve as a liason between the team, our clients, and the SLP program coordinator. mneff@uoregon.edu

Wade Tullar: Wade Tullar serves as a webmaster consultant for this project. He can be reached at: wtullar@gladstone.uoregon.edu
