Chad Kirkpatrick

Note: This exercise is based on Judith and Richard Wilde's book, Visual
Literacy(New York: Watson-Guptill Publications, 1991) which is full of
excellent ways to learn graphic design principles.

On a Letter size sheet, draw a 3 x 2 matrix of 6 solid black squares. Using each of
these as a frame, compose 4 white squares to convey the following concepts:

ï movement
ï balance
ï weight
ï levity
ï terror
ï calm

The white squares may be any size and orientation (rotation) and they may be
cropped to fit the frames.
