Two Southeast Asian Language Families

Though it has often been proposed that Kadai and Hmong-Mien are
related, this is not at present a majority opinion.  I've only
put them on the same page for convenience.


KADAI

(While there is no question that all of the languages on this
list are related, and the structure of the Tai branch is fairly
well-understood, other aspects of this classification are all
uncertain).

     Hlai
     Gelao
     Li: Laqua, Laha
     Kam-Tai
          Kam-Sui: Kam, Then, Mak, Ai-Cham
          Tai
               Northern Tai: Buyi, Yay, Zhuang, Saek
               Central Tai: Lungchow, Tay, Nung, Tho, T'ien-pao
               Southwestern Tai:  Thai (Siamese), Lao, Shan,
                    Khamti, Kam Muang, Ahom, Black Tai, White
                    Tai, Tai Lue 




HMONG-MIEN (Miao-Yao)

     HMONG (Miao): White Hmong, Green Hmong, others
     MIEN (Yao): Yu Mien, Biao Min, Jiao Gong, Dzau Min, others
