Classics Department - Faculty

Professor Nicols has taught at the University of Oregon since 1980. He received an M.A. degree in History at UCLA in 1968 and a Ph.D. in History from UCLA in 1970. He taught at Stanford from 1975 to 1980, when he became associate professor of History at the University of Oregon. He was promoted to full professor in 1988. He has been the director of the Humanities Program and Independent Study Program since 1991.
