The undergraduate advising program in chemistry is designed to help the student plan both undergraduate training and to look forward to a career in chemistry or a related field. A faculty advisor will assist in developing a program of study from the beginning course to graduation, with modifications whenever necessary or desirable. In order for this advising to be effective the student should plan on meeting with an advisor as soon as an interest is declared in chemistry/biochemistry and on a regular basis thereafter, especially at the start of the senior year. Transfer students are encouraged to meet with an advisor before enrolling. If you have advising questions, contact Dr. Julie Haack, assistant department head at the address below. To make an appointment with Dr. Haack, call the main chemistry office at 541-346-4601.

As students plan their program in chemistry they might want to keep in mind the requirements for election to PHI BETA KAPPA, the nation's oldest liberal arts academic honorary society. To learn more about the requirements, visit the society's UO chapter website at http://www.uoregon.edu/~pbk/membership.htm
