A minor in chemistry or biochemistry requires coursework in General Chemistry (Tracks I, II, or III), including the laboratory sequence, and 15 additional hours of upper division course work. Six options are outlined below to demonstrate possible combinations of courses a student may complete. However, other options can be considered for approval by the Department. At least 12 credit hours of course work applied towards the minor must be completed at the University of Oregon. University requirements for a minor include a total of 24 credit hours in the subject area (chemistry), 15 of which must be in upper division courses. Credit hours for seminars (CH 407), Reading and Conference (CH 405), and Laboratory Problems (CH 409) may not be applied toward the required courses or credit hours for the minor. All courses for the minor must be completed with a grade C- or better.
