CASL meeting 9/9/04 Attendees: Sebastian Collet (facilitator), Chris Gamman (note-taker), James Hiebert, Bob Jones (host), Margaret Oscilia, Jo Rodgers, Brad Schallert. Updates on individual tasks: + Brad: Reserved CASLâ^À^Ùs table for the Sept. 24th ASUO +\'Intermingle\' in the EMU. Volunteers will be needed for the hours of the event (4:00-8:00). To sign up, email Brad (bradschallert@yahoo.com). The CASL brochure and any other visual aids will need to be ready for this event. + Margaret: The requisite eight copies of the 2004 application for office space is being prepared and will be submitted to the EMU Board Office by the deadline during the second week of fall term. However, the goal is to have it in before the term starts. Contact person on the application will be James. + Chris: Will be working with Mary this week on the revision of the CASL brochure. Special meeting for all those interested in working on the revision to take place sometime this week. Also, working on getting a CASL story into the Daily Emerald for the start of the term. Most of the article will focus on promoting CASLâ^À^Ùs fall projects. Emma Juhlin, the reporter, will be interviewing Chris soon. A brief interview with a co-director might also be in order. + James: Called Dean Melnick, who spoke with Rich Linton since last contacted. Melnick stated he was not overly optimistic that the house will be available in the near future, due to larger east campus issues. After contact with Melnick, Christine Thompson, Dan Williams, other allies of the project, CASL may an emergency strategy meeting this week. Personal Notes: + Sebastian: We should take full advantage of the time we have before the term. + Brad: Ideas for the workshops could come out of the permaculture gathering. + Jo: Networking at the gathering would also be a good idea. + Bob: Sees the house as a tangible expression of CASLâ^À^Ùs goals. + Chris: Working with the project thus far has proved stimulating and inspiring. + Margaret: Anticipating move to Corvallis. + James: Enthusiastic about CASL\'s previous accomplishments and ones on the horizon. CASL\'s abstract was selected for a panel on student-run sustainability organizations. The presentation sub-committee will meet at 6:00 pm, Wed. the 15th at the Maitreya Ecovillage (tentative time and location). The CCDC The vacated Child Care Development Center was suggested as a possible site for the CASL house. The fate of the facility is still up in the air. However, there are questions regarding how CASL will fulfill the land use requirements of this location. The nearby ROTC may provide useful insight into how student organizations can fit into the scheme of the area. Revisiting meeting method Will probably be discussed at the next meeting.
