Table of Contents The display for Demography consists of the main menu bar and several data display areas (5 in the default applet). Users can resize the data display areas, collapse them, expand them, change the data that is being displayed, and/or change the way in which the data is displayed. Resizing a Data Display Area |
Border bars like the one above seperate data display areas. They can either be horizntal or vertical. By clicking and dragging in the stippled area, you can resize the bordering data display areas. By clicking on the arrow buttons, you can "collapse" (and hide) a given view, or expand it to cover another display area.
To resize any of the data display areas, hold the mouse button down over the stippled area of the appropriate bar bordering display areas. The cursor will change to a bi-directional arrow. Drag the cursor in the direction that you wish to resize, letting go of the mouse button when the bar has reached the desired position.

"Collapsing" a Data Display Area |
To collapse (hide) any of the data display areas, pick the appropriate border bar, and click on the arrow pointing in the direction of the display area that you wish to hide. Note that this action does not cause the deletion of the display area. The bar is still present. Clicking on the opposite arrow in the border bar will re-expand the data display area.

Expanding a Data Display Area |
Collapsing one data area automatically expands its neighbor. So to expand any data display area, pick the appropriate border bar, and click on the arrow pointing away from the display area that you wish to expand. Clicking on the opposite arrow in the border bar cause the data display area to contract back to its previous size.

Adding or Deleting Data Display Areas |
To delete a display area, click on the delete button in the title bar of the display area. To add a new display area, click on the add button in the title bar of one of the existing display areas. In either case, a dialog box will appear allowing you to specify how you want the data displays organized after the deletion or addition.
