Demography Sponsors and Supporters
Weíd like to thank the staff of the BioQUEST Consortium for their continued
support of our development efforts. We also acknowledge support from the National
Science Foundation, and from the University of Oregon. We are particularly grateful
to Greg Bothun for helping to find summer support (1999) for Tom Conlin and Mark
Felt.
We are indebted to the programmers who worked on earlier versions of Demography.
These include Jasper Barber, Gordon Hennesey, Will Goodwin and Joshua Coxwell.
Workshop
Biology was been developed through grants from the Department of Education
(FIPSE) (P116A1-0385 and P116A4-1049) and the National Science Foundation (USE-9150760
and DUE-9455145). These grants, plus a grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute,
e supported the development of previous versions of Demography and related
materials.
We would like to thank those faculty and students who have tested earlier versions
of Demography for their feedback and support (and their patience!), and G.
Z. Brown and his coworkers for stimulating discussions regarding program design.
The staff of the Workshop Biology Project, past and present (John Postlethwait, Alan
Dickman, Peter Wetherwax, Deborah Morris, Stacey Kiser, and Nan Perigo), and participants
in our Biology Education Journal Club over the past several years have contributed
many ideas about teaching and learning that have influenced our software tools and
the curricular materials that use these tools.
