1932 EARL MACK ALL-STARS

Of all the research I have conducted concerning the 1932 Earl Mack All Stars and my autographed ball this picture is the Holy Grail. A correspondent of mine met a man whose father took the picture following the game in Jamestown and sent it to me attached to an e-mail. I nearly died. Taken just two days before the ball was signed this picture is as close as it gets to perfection. From left to right are: Babe Herman, Red Kress, Eric McNair, Al Schacht, Lefty Grove, Bing Miller, Luke Sewell, Rube Walberg, Joe Judge, Charlie Gehringer, and Heinie Manush. Not pictured are Nick Altrock, Earl Whitehill, Clint Brown, Bill Dickey, and Earl Mack. Notice the individual team uniforms and Schacht wearing his patent topcoat with tails and holding his crumpled top hat. Across the bottom it says, ‘American League Baseball Stars Jamestown, N.D. October 1932'.
