hour to discuss things {\em other than} homework problems (e.g. the
term paper!)

- Book: Abstract Algebra, Theodore Shifrin,
Prentice Hall.
- Syllabus: Chapters 5 and parts of 6.
- Homework Assignments (30%)
to be collected on WEDNESDAYS.
Late homework will not be accepted. Not all of the assigned homework
problems will be graded.
- There will be NO final exam in this class. Instead, there will be a
term paper due at 5pm on the Monday of Finals week.
- Test dates:
- Midterm 1 (25%): 1.00-2.00 F May 2, Deady 303.
- Midterm 2 (25%): 1.00-2.00 F May 30, Deady 303.
You must bring photo ID to the midterms!
- Grading: Homework 25%,
midterms 50%,
term paper 25%.
- Please remember that if you miss a class, it is
your responsibility to find out what happened in that class. You
can usually pick up any handouts from this web page.
