Title: Non-cyclic fundamental groups and the Grove symmetry program

Abstract: While there exist non-cyclic fundamental groups
arising from positively curved Riemannian manifolds with symmetry,
there are many obstructions in the presence of large symmetry. We will
survey this realization problem and report on work in preparation with
Yusheng Wang (Beijing Normal University), as well as work of my Ph.D.
student, Elahe Khalili Samani (Syracuse University).
