Title: H1 cup length, positive scalar curvature, and low-dimensional
aspherical manifolds

Abstract: The Schoen-Yau minimal hypersurface technique can be
used to rule out the existence of positive scalar curvature metrics on
closed manifolds with 'enough' degree one cohomology classes with
non-zero cup product. In this talk I will explain how one can use the
classification of positive scalar curvature three-manifolds to reduce
the required number of classes by one on an aspherical manifold of low
dimension.
