PURPOSE:

To support the University of Oregon's mission of teaching, research, and outreach with media collections, educational technology, and creative design and production services.

A. MEDIA RESOURCES & ACCESS B. EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY   C. CREATIVE MEDIA DEVELOPMENT, PRODUCTION, & DISTRIBUTION BACKGROUND

A major department of the University Library, Media Services provides media and educational technology access, training, and technical support for teaching, research, and outreach at the University of Oregon. Formerly known as the Instructional Media Center and with services focused on audio-video support of credit classes, Media Services has a broader mission reflecting the continued integration and growing importance of educational technology and media in all aspects of campus life.

Current classroom-related services include but are not limited to media collections and course reserves, individual and group viewing facilities, operators to assist in campus classrooms, training of faculty in classroom technology applications, technical support of classroom equipment (specification, design, installation, maintenance, repair), and video distribution for distance education.

Creative design and production services include graphics production (signs, flyers, publications, technical illustrations, presentation graphics, digital media) and broadcast-quality video services (production, distribution, satellite up- and down-linking, tape duplication and local cable channel management. Clients include individual faculty, instructional departments, administrative offices (including public relations, faculty and staff training, outreach, and institutional development), and a wide variety of government agencies and non-profit organizations.

To the extent possible, all services and collections are available to students, faculty, and staff of the University. Credit-bearing courses will receive highest priority for fully subsidized support. Fees may be required for non-instructional events, programs, or activities.

All Media Services activities occur in an environment of extensive collaboration with other technology service providers on the UO campus.
