2006.12.29 1448 for those three or four of you that check this, SURPRISE! i'm posting something. hopefully a few things:

- more berkeley food photos
- christmas pictures!
- portland food

2006.11.17 2204 finally on the plane back to EUG, trying to put together some pictures from this largely crappy trip. a few bright spots include getting a (very) few things done at the molecular foundry, a great indian cafeteria and getting some good street-level food advice for next time.

lessons learned:
3 days is not enough time to be sure to get anything done at LBNL.
especially when the first one is spent in the airport
dont leave/lose your wallet at an airport before getting on a plane.

at this point i just hope there will be some coalition of the willing to drive me home. oh and here's me following the nytimes recipe for 'no-knead bread'.

2006.11.14 2242 turns out, there isnt another flight until tomorrow morning. there is, however, some accidental wireless floating around (enough for me to watch studio60 and post this) and some friendliness floating around (enough for a very kind employee of a bakery to give me 4 croissants that were probably destined for the garbage... at airport prices, that's probably about $15 worth of food). so i'm in good shape for a pleasant night out here at 77A.

2006.11.14 1940 on the plane now. evidently i dropped/forgot my wallet at the EUG airport- hopefully they'll send it on the next flight so i dont have to spend the night at SFO.

2006.11.14 1710 on my way back to berkeley for my second trip in two months. last time was only for a couple nights, but enough time to check out Gregoire's Takeout, resulting in me being very full and getting to take some pictures. also in there are some pictures of pastries i got from the cheeseboard and the virginia bakery.

2006.10.29 1258 hmm. now it's been nearly two months since the last update. for people like db, who reads this about twice a year, this pace is helpful. i mention db, because he and r(b)e got hitched in NYC last weekend. my time there was lots of fun, the wedding was beautiful and there was good food to be had. nyc pics here!. and also click here for some food pictures from the past 8 weeks...

2006.09.06 1628 im back. phg and i went up through WA to pick up km from the historic preservation field school in marblemount. photographic documentation here.

2006.08.20 2221 eo' and i made a fantastic dinner. more here.

2006.08.15 2219 eo' sent me a link to these sweet pictures of Home Movie Day .

2006.08.09 1039 phg and i went out camping and fishing on the aufderheide. tested our new tents and phg's sweet JetBoil stove... here's some photographic evidence.

also, eo's running the eugene Home Movie Day event which happens here (and across the globe!) on saturday.

2006.07.30 959 well, another monthly update. i took some pictures at an Em's game. i also rode from seattle to portland on my bike. pictures of that can be found here. other news, no pictures yet: camping, fishing, other nonsense.

2006.06.30 1150 with regards to this year's Tour de France, the shit has hit the fan. it seems like this has been a long time coming and has taken real police involvement (not the UCI, WADA, etc) to get something done.

2006.06.26 1311 hmm... dont tell, im updating this from work. mostly because i listened to this song again from a swede via the italians. it's superduper.
also, congrats to h + b for getting hitched.
and congrats to eugene, oregon for finally getting hot enough to warrant sitting around a public pool eating snackshack nachos.

2006.06.20 2046 at a different laundromat this time, with a few things to report:
1. asparagus risotto is damn good and also fun to make.
2. here are some pictures of my new place.
3. visit the Tree of Life for all your taxonomical needs and sweet pictures.
4. the mighty Eugene Emeralds have their home opener this weekend against spokane. i think i'll be able to get to the 3rd game of the series on monday... should be great.
5. tim's moving to nyc! fucking great- all my friends are now spread even farther across the continent.

2006.06.04 1710 hmm. more bike riding, no pictures of my new place, bipolar oregon weather and me doing laundry at a laundromat. all very exciting.

2006.05.21 2247 rode wolf creek today with a nice bunch of people- (some details here) and pretty much destroyed my legs. 75 miles with some real hills. it was great. thankfully we got back in time to avoid the 3/4"-diameter hail that dropped on eugene this evening... it was spectacular. phg has some exemplars preserved in his freezer- hopefully i can get a picture before they sublime away or something. still havent moved to new place (one more load of laundry here!).

2006.05.20 1940 i hope to move into my new place tomorrow after i ride Wolf Creek with the stp crew. now im babysitting at b+h's place, which means watching the mariners play sandiego because the baby is asleep in his bedroom. new place needs a bit of sitting in to figure out if i've gotten a good place to live or just a pile of annoyances... details when i have some pictures to back up my comments.

2006.05.13 1944 hmm... maybe this is the slow death of my blog. i've been updating the bike log and really this post is going to just be some numbers related to my ride today:
2 hours, 45 minutes
39.78 miles
2440 total feet of climbing
44mph maximum speed
14.3 average speed

good fun!

2006.04.18 1933 hoo boy. it's been almost a month since the last time i posted anything. no real exciting news- got shut out in FirstOfTheYear fishing and razor clamming. hope to improve the record on clamming at the end of the month but no fishing plans yet. cycling has been going well. started adding in some hills about a week ago (mostly lorane highway heading out of town) and my legs are starting to respond. also, i have stepped up my bike geekiness by purchasing the topological curiosity that is The Cycling Bib. shut up, it's great. work is going slowly lately and i dont really know why- general laziness, i suppose.

2006.03.16 0132 i've been updating the bike log but not much here. currently at tim's place in ballard- i came over here from chelan on tuesday IN MY CAR. that's right. pictures soon. very exciting. also pictures of sweet plants at the UW botany greenhouse. i stepped into oregaard library to check my email and it was a complete timewarp- same interior, same students standing in line, same smell etc. as it was 4(?) years ago when i was there last. it's great to be hanging out with tsal (and a and j) and (hopefully) p+d thursday AM.

2006.03.04 2221 super deals from the bike-swap: $10 wool jersey, $10 new bike shoes, $20 used helmet. dug the Technium out of storage, cleaned it up and also bought cleats and a replacement cycle computer. put the pedals from the lund bike (Selle San Marcos from the 80s, probably) on my real bike and so now i have clip-in pedals. at some point i'll put up a photo of my bikes in their current form but it may take a bit. ride tomorrow AM with L+S out Mackenzie View- spin spin spin!

2006.03.02 1107 arrived back in eugene late monday night and have managed to do the following since then:

* get free delicious beers at a bar that accidently gave my debit card to some other dude from the same bank. frantic employees, phonecalls and a rendezvous at a mall (while phg and i sat around acting inconvenienced) led to returned card and no bill to pay.
* put my bike back together after it was mauled by homeland security. there are now one million fixedgear bikes in eugene.
* start the slow process of copying 7 DVDs worth of data from Lund onto a harddrive here.

really not much more than that. oh and the previous posts from Lund are all available here.
